The boys spent Friday night running around and playing. They had so much fun! The next morning the boys worked towards earning their fishing belt loop. Tanner caught a fish! At this point it had been raining off and on, but never hard.

After fishing, we sat around the campfire and ate some lunch. Then Ethan and his dad came up with a turtle that they had found. All the boys were so fascinated with it.

The next activity was working toward a belt loop on map and compass. The boys were all gathered around trying to learn how to read their compasses. When it started raining pretty hard and lighting everywhere. It was announced that we should all just go to our cars for a little while. Only Noah and I didn't have a car. John had taken it to the store. Everybody was running off in all directions.. Noah was freaking out and crying. "Mom, where are we going? MOM! Is there a tornado?" He was hysterical. I was trying to find Laurie to see if we could sit in her car with her. But she was gone! I went to the camp site to make sure nothing important was getting wet. The whole time Noah behind me crying and screaming. Dememtra was at the campsite getting her things. She didn't have a car either, because her husband had taken their son Gavin to a birthday party. I don't know what happened to the turtle, but he made his escape. Demetra, me and our kids ended up taking cover in Lisa's pop-up until the rain stopped. (Thank you Lisa and Dan!) We regrouped and began working with the compasses again. We did this for about 20 minutes when I noticed the big cloud buildup behind us. It was pretty obvious that things were about to get real bad real fast. I wasn't the only one who noticed this. Right as the canceling the rest of the camp out was being announced, it started pouring hard. Once again, everybody was running in all directions. Noah was freaking out and crying. Jonah was freaking out and crying. And Tanner was doing the same. It was crazy! By this time, John was back with the car and our Cub Scout camp out was officially over.

Crossover

We had the best time at the Cub Scout Crossover camp out. It was absolutely great.

Do to some unorganized organising, we had to get to the campsite bright and early Friday morning. Whoever it was that was in charge of organizing the whole camp out had overbooked the sites available for RVs and pop ups. They said it wasn't a big deal and that we could just squeeze two pop ups in one spot. That reasoning is absolutely ridiculous, because squeezing two pop ups in one site is impossible being that each pop up needs an electricity connection. It was then decided that it would be on a first come first serve basis. Since John and I were one of the first to reserve our pop up site we were the first there.

It started off great. We had our pick of the of the RV sites and we were able to get one on the end with a shade tree. John and I were able to set up the pop up rather quickly. We were hoping that Tanner and his family would get the site next to us, but the people behind us got there first.

Then we went to get Noah from school, and it was raining hard! When we made it back to the campsite, we were pretty much stuck in the camper for a while.

Ethan and his mom arrived and he and Noah played some board games while we waited for the rain to stop. It stopped raining long enough for us to cook hamburgers out on the grill.

Saturday, was filled with nonstop fun. The boys played kickball, wiffle ball, volleyball, and ultimate Frisbee. Noah, Tanner and Ethan went fishing. Then all five Tiger cubs swam in the lake. I don't think that there was one moment of downtime. There was always something to do.

At the Crossover ceremony our Tigers crossed over the bridge and became Wolves. We are all so proud of them. They received their yellow neckerchiefs.

After the ceremony, we all gathered for dinner. I really enjoyed hanging out and spending time with our Wolves and their families. Later that Night We went fishing. Well, Jonah and his family, Tanner and John and Noah fished, I watched.

I am looking forward to the next Cub scout gathering.

Here I am on our first cub scouts campout. We have had a great time. Tonight is the last night and in the morning we will be packing up to go home.
Yesterday we arrived at camp after dark, so we had a rough start, trying to set camp up in the dark. This morning we woke up and I made breakfast .
Then all the cub scouts (Tigers, Bears, Wolf and the webelo's ) played some touch football. It was neat because it counted as an achievement in Noah’s Tiger Cub book.

Tent Verses Pop-up Camper

<img style="float:right; margin:0 0 10px 10px;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 200px; height: 88px;" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/_lkzXQgFfu68/SkHIveITUDI/AAAAAAAAAGg/Bxxd-ExPTG8/s200/Folding_CT.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5350778550160150578" />
Which is Better, Camping In a Tent or a Pop-Up Camper?
Here I am, sitting in a pop-up camper, wondering if I prefer camping like this or if I would like camping in a tent better. In the past, I have always camped in tents. I feel that camping that way is real camping. I have always believed that camping in RVs and pop-up campers is not really camping. It is more like pretending to camp or cheating. My husband really likes this pop-up. Can I be happy camping this way or should I just stick with tents?
The biggest advantage a tent has is how portable it is. They are lightweight and easy to carry. You can set up a tent just about anywhere. A pop-up camper, however, weighs around 2500 pounds, at the very least. It has to be towed with a vehicle strong enough to pull it. Not only is a pop-up camper heavy and bulky, but you can’t set it up just anywhere. It has to be backed up into a camping spot that has RV hook ups (water and electricity).
The biggest advantage a pop-up camper has is being proved right now. I am able to plug in my laptop and work on my school assignments while camping. I could do this in a tent, but it would not be as comfortable as this is and, I would have to rely on my laptop’s battery. Right now I am sitting at a table, in the air-conditioning, typing. My laptop is plugged in, so I do not have to worry about running out of power.
Last night I slept so well. It was so much better than sleeping on the ground. When my family and I camp in tents, we have to blow up air mattresses, unroll mats and use sleeping bags. This camper has a thick mattress. All I had to do was pull the bed out and make it. It was so much simpler.
Bad weather is another thing to consider. In a storm, a tent may leak or even blow over. A camper is a lot sturdier and will probably not leak. The ability to cook inside is another advantage a camper has in rainstorms. A camper has a stove and electrical outlets. If I were camping in a tent, I would be stuck eating cold hot dogs.
Pop-up campers have so much more to offer than tents do. They are better in bad weather, the beds are more comfortable and it’s easier to use my lap-top than it is to use it in a tent. Although, Tents are extremely portable and I think that camping in a pop-up camper isn’t really camping, I feel that I can be happy camping in a pop-up camper instead of a tent.

Hobo Pie

This is a very easy, delicious dessert. We live far enough out in the country that we can hear the coyotes howling. The camp out was great. We put up two large tents and had our outdoor fire place set up! The kids enjoyed roasting their own hot dogs and later making smores. We all played hide-N-go seek in the dark and of course told ghost stories. hot chocolate and smores. It was a pretty good camp out. Currently we live in Arlington Texas and I'm trying to find a camp site that compares to hidden cove. Maybe at Arlington lake or Joe pool lake. Our next camp out is scheduled for Oct. 17. I can't wait. We will be going with our friends Jon and Kelly and their daughter Nicole.

Noah singing in our tent

<img style="float:left;
